Described by Edward Albee as 鈥渢he greatest American play ever written,鈥 Thornton Wilder鈥檚 Pulitzer Prize-winning Our Town tells the story of a small town in order to tell us the story of every town, the whole world over. Narrated by the 鈥淪tage Manager,鈥 we follow the Gibbs and Webb families, residents of Grover鈥檚 Corners, through twelve years of life changes -- from the everyday to the romantic to the devastating.
Through the young lovers Emily and George, their strong and loving parents, and the many other Grover鈥檚 Corners鈥 locals, Wilder delivers universal truths about the precious privilege of being alive. With humor, wit, and exceptionally powerful storytelling, Our Town offers a unique opportunity for audience members to make precisely that realization.
This production is directed by Teresa Veramendi, a multidisciplinary theatre artist, playwright, performer, community facilitator, and educator. She has relished the opportunity to dust off her old pantomime skills while training the brilliant ensemble of Our Town to create a truly magical production. Veramendi has led courses at St. Lawrence University, San Jose State University, and 69萝莉, and led workshops around the country. She is currently co-writing a musical about the largest witch trial in history, Ladies of the Etxea.
