Biographies

He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in music education from Boston University, Master of Arts in Teaching with a music education focus from Notre Dame de Namur University, and Bachelor of Music in oboe performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Publications include Empathy and Deep Listening in Jazz Improvisation, a book chapter in the Oxford Handbook of Care in Music Education and Self-Assessment in Jazz Improvisation, an article in the Psychology of Music journal.
Chris Nalls is Director of Instrumental Music at Branham High School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Horn performance from San Jose State University and has worked with musicians at Saratoga, Redwood, Lynbrook, Homestead, Branham, Independence, Oak Grove, and San Jose State University (among others).
He is also an in-demand horn player, performing with the Cambrian Symphony, Ohlone Symphonic Band, and the Golden Gate Park Band. Chris Nalls was also part of the rise of Silicon Valley, working at iconic companies like Apple, Netscape, America Online, and Symantec.
