The Audient AP8024-Heritage Edition is the Center of the Recording Arts Program at WVC
Classes utilizing this console include Recording Arts, Mixing, Sound Design (for Foley and VO) and Music Production.
Director of Commercial Music Jeff Forehan notes that the consoles design makes it easy to teach signal flow to students. Although theyre intimidated at first, with proper instruction they eventually get it because our classes provide handson opportunities for students to develop and strengthen their recording and production skills.
Comprising 48 channels and Dual Layer Control (DLC) for DAW integration, this console was selected specifically for teaching signal flow and because the ASP8024 is less complicated than other highend professional desks. The recording studio also features worldclass microphones, outboard gear, and monitors (please see the equipment list under the Commercial Music tab above).
The new studio space, with high ceilings and adjustable acoustics, is large enough to record a full rhythm section, small choir, or jazz band. The studio includes two isolation booths with Dante networks, along with video monitors that allow seamless connection and communication between artists and engineers. The studio is also connected to a new video/film studio equipped with green screens, professional lighting, a digital video control room and editing suite, and a collection of stateoftheart cameras and monitors. Together, these new facilities provide a fully integrated audio and video production environment.
In addition to CTE Certi麍cates, the Performing Arts Department offers a comprehensive professional program designed to provide a wide variety of musical experiences for the student seeking to transfer to a baccalaureate program in performance or music education for a career as a musician or music educator.
